The Appleby Hub

Since October 2015, We;The Oaklea Trust had the privilege of taking care of this wonderful community building – the Appleby Hub. Following a period of extensive renovation and repair after the floods in December 2015, the Hub was launched in May 2016. In Spring 2019 the Hub came under the auspices of our Kendal based CIC (Community Interest Company) Right2Work.

Today the Hub is used by a great variety of community groups and classes. Our flexible spaces make it an ideal venue for dance and fitness classes, art groups, meetings and events, youth groups, and countless more. We are also home to the Appleby Rotary bookshop and Craft Shop which moved downstairs into the old cafe area as the cafe moved into main hall following the first lockdown of 2020.

Hub Cafe, Craft shop and Books are open Wednesday – Saturday 10-3pm. The vibrant cafe moved effortlessly into the main hall where more tables have been able to be added for more to enjoy our wholesome menu – all sourced locally and cooked from scratch in our Hub kitchen where we also teach valuable work and life skills to our learners.
